The MA in Migration, Climate Change and Environment program enables students to explore the major challenges of our contemporary world, focusing on environmental drivers of migration and human mobility worldwide. Students will learn to analyze how the adverse effects of climate change and other environmental factors impact policy-makers in government, NGOs, humanitarian organizations, and even international companies.

This program is designed in collaboration with experts at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as well as with a wide network of international partners—creating a new groundbreaking curriculum that intersects migration, climate change, and environmental degradation. Through this unique program, you’ll have the opportunity to discover, investigate, and understand the cross-cutting issues at the forefront of world affairs.

You’ll Learn How to:

Identify key characteristics of migration in the context of climate change
Recognize different forms of environmental change and types of policy intervention
Identify legal frameworks, bodies of law, and human rights instruments relevant to the protection of people moving due to environmental drivers
Connect migration and climate change to other modern global challenges in health
Plan, organize, and conduct research projects on global issues including migration and environmental degradation
Communicate relevant theoretical concepts to a variety of audiences
